Profile Picture

Sue has been a qualified counsellor for over 25 years and an Accredited Practitioner with BACP since 1999. During that time she has practised and worked within the NHS, Local Government and Voluntary Sector Agencies. She has spent nearly 20 years working with individuals at their most vulnerable, including those in addiction services and on intensive care units. This work brought her into contact with many individuals who had experienced trauma/abuse and she has subsequently undertaken additional training, equipping her to have an array of skills to work with the impact of traumatic experiences. As a senior manager and commissioner of services Sue worked within complex organisational structures and her Masters qualification from Birkbeck College, UCL, is based on systems/family therapy theory. This, alongside her counselling and psychotherapy qualifications, inform her work with individuals, couples, groups and organisations. Furthermore she has trained in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and is happy to discuss delivering this on an individual or group basis.

She believes that individuals can seek and find their own solutions given the opportunity to engage in a supportive, caring and safe therapeutic relationship. There is never just one way to enable that process and therefore her caseload includes people who engage in both short and long term therapy.
