ABOUT HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy aims to boost the body's natural healing resources. It is an effective and scientific system of healing which treats the whole person, taking account of their personality, mood, diet, circumstances, background etc, as well as their symptoms. The word Homeopathy comes from two Greek words meaning “similar suffering” and treatment is based on the following principle:
There are substances that cause health problems when given in large doses to healthy people. If you use these same or similar substances in minute amounts, you can alleviate the symptoms. Take for example caffeine. Excess amounts of caffeine will normally cause people to suffer from insomnia. However, if you use coffee in a homeopathic remedy given in extremely small amounts, this surprisingly can enable the patient to sleep naturally.
This method of treating “ like with like” stimulates the body’s own healing power to bring about health and well-being.
When you visit your homeopath, he or she will ask many detailed questions to find out all about you, your medical history, your stress levels, what you eat, how you feel etc all in strictest confidence so that the correct remedy can be prescribed for your particular condition. Once you begin taking your remedies, improvement may begin straight away, or your symptoms may appear to worsen before they improve. Some long standing conditions may take a while to alleviate and other problems may disappear with remarkable speed. Each person reacts in their own way to the medicines and the homeopath will be happy to discuss any of these changes with you throughout the course of your treatment.
