Chinese Herbal Medicine
Traditional Treatments for Today's World
CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
Chinese herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years in China as a fully natural way in which to treat disease. Properties from plant extracts, such as Dandilion and liquorice, are used for specific indications, and are taken either internally or used externally. Over many years, certain formulas have been successfully tried and tested and have become known as ‘classical’ formulae. Over the course of history, thousands of formulas have been established, of which about 2000 are currently in use worldwide today.
What should I expect?
To begin with, before any treatment is given, a thorough consultation of your medical history and symptoms, including any medication that you are currently taking, is assessed in order to make a clear diagnosis of your condition. Once a diagnosis has been made, we can prescribe a Chinese herbal formula based on your symptoms and indications.
Our Chinese herbal formulas usually contain between 6 and 15 ingredients and come in powdered form, simply requiring you to dissolve in hot water and drink, much like instant coffee. One prescription will usually last a week to a week and a half.
The number of treatments for symptom relief vary and are dependent on the condition, however some improvement may be felt after just one to two weeks.
